I really enjoyed the atmosphere and decor of this restaurant it has a warm, inviting feel that makes you want to stay awhile. But the highlight for me was definitely the birria enchiladas. They were a pleasant surprise, especially because they come covered in a flavorful sauce that takes them to another level. Rich, comforting, and packed with flavor, they were easily my favorite dish of the meal. I would definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic Mexican food in Tucson.

Voting "Yes" on Mi Nidito’s President's Plate During a fleeting, one-day visit to Tucson, I had exactly one opportunity to experience the local culinary scene. Guided by a memorable advertisement featuring former President Bill Clinton—a fellow native Arkansan—I set my sights on Mi Nidito. The restaurant proudly features the "President's Plate," a monumental culinary tribute that meticulously replicates the exact meal Clinton enjoyed during his historic presidential visit on February 25, 1999. The legendary feast comprises a bean tostada, a birria taco, a chile relleno, a chicken enchilada, and a beef tamale. The platter is absolutely immense. Armed with limited time and finite stomach capacity, I gave it my absolute best effort and managed to conquer most of it. Every single element was exceptional—vibrant, beautifully prepared, and deeply flavorful. It was an incredibly rewarding dining experience, made all the better by the restaurant's wonderfully authentic ambiance and warm, attentive staff. Mi Nidito is well worth the detour.

Given Mi Nidito’s reputation—famous as a spot where Bill Clinton dined back in 1999—and its location in a city that literally is a UNESCO City of Gastronomy, I expected a spectacular meal. Instead, I was met with blatant shortcuts that are completely unacceptable for a Mexican restaurant in Tucson. I ordered the nopales enchiladas on the server's recommendation, and they were terrible. The plate was literally drowning in a generic, clearly store-bought enchilada sauce. Worse, the nopales were soggy and tasteless. When I asked, the server openly admitted they came straight out of a can. We are in the Sonoran Desert; prickly pear cacti grow in abundance literally everywhere here. Serving canned nopales so close to the Mexican border is a culinary crime. I sent the plate back after just a few bites. The meal wasn't a total loss—the guacamole was good (standard, nothing fancy, but solid). However, it was served with tortilla chips that were, yet again, obviously not house-made. In a city surrounded by incredible, authentic Mexican food, cutting corners on basic chips and salsa is a massive red flag. As for the vibe, the interior is incredibly outdated. It was established in the 1950s, and it feels like it hasn’t been updated since. The decor crosses the line from historic to kitschy, and the environment feels like it's solely pandering to a Boomer demographic that values nostalgia over food quality. Service was an average 3/5—the server was friendly as well as honest about the canned ingredients, which I appreciated, but the kitchen's output was indefensible. With so many fantastic, authentic options in Tucson, Mi Nidito is resting entirely on its laurels. I won't be back.

Food was very tasty. You can tell the sauces are made with love. Large portions at very reasonable prices. Good selection of domestic and imported Mexican beers

The green chili enchiladas did Not have green chili in it so disappointed. The green chili cheese crisp had only slices of green chili on top. It should have been chopped up. No flavor. Combination 1 tamale had no flavor, tostada soggy. Not what it used to be. Don't know who's cooking but it's lost its flavor The brick wall next to us had cob webs
