1942 Tacos and Tequila | Mexican

Heard good things about 1942 so figured I would give it a try. Went for dinner with a group of 5 around 6p, they were moderately busy but we were able to get seated without a wait. I tried both the quesabirria and the Al pastor. I’m a big fan of birria tacos and thought these were good but could have used a little more cheese. As for the Al pastor, the flavor was okay but meat was somewhat dry. Chips were good but the salsa is fairly generic that every Ohio Mexican restaurant serves. As for the margs I thought the pineapple was really good, it even had some fruits chunks inside. Overall, If I was in the area and looking for tacos I would go again.

Solid Mexican restaurant near the playhouse theaters...good place for a pre show meal. The food and drinks were good...loved my molecajate. The meat was very flavorful and tender. The menu had variety...but not the full list of classic Mexican restaurant dishes. Service was friendly and pretty fast. Vibe and atmosphere was nice...blinking glow things in the margaritas was a little corny. Overall...a place I would go back to...especially for the molecajate!

Though the food was alright, the service was not great. I expected it to be busy as it was a saturday in cleveland but we were seated pretty fast. However, it took about 10 minutes for someone to even ask for what drinks we wanted and we just ordered our food with the drinks. The food came out fast but was missing our appetizer and our sides when it came out. It then took about another 10 minutes to get our missing items to us and we had already almost finished our food so there was no point at this point. In this wait time we were not asked once if we were okay or if we needed refills on our drinks, though people who had ordered alcohol were tended to constantly. Me and my boyfriend are not drinkers so we had no need to order alcohol but this restaurant seems to just see dollar signs when people order alcoholic drinks. Also, the female bathroom was disgusting with food all over the floor somehow and wet balls of toilet paper along with tons of wet spots on the floor from god knows what. Overall, the food wasn’t bad but the service was not great at all and I would not come back here again.

Great margaritas the birria tacos were was amazing and very large portions. Fairly priced and I will be back for more of this delicious food.

We heard so much about the quessabirria and we tried it. It wasn’t bad but my expectation was too high. The wuessabirria gets 4/5 while the remainig food items were much lower. Their salsa was sweet instead of spicy. The mexican flan dessert and street corn was very good tho
