We shared the birria tacos and the mini chimichanga appetizer. The birria tacos were nothing like normal birria tacos but the tasted fresh and delicious anyway-for ex, there was no broth dipping sauce, not a little hot sauce. The mini chimichangas had a tasty chipotle aioli sauce stuffed with lots of chicken. Service was friendly and efficient. Typical DC prices 😢

I stopped by Mazcal Cantina and was really impressed with the food and drinks. The veggie burrito was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and satisfying — truly one of the best I’ve had. The jalapeño margarita was also amazing, with the perfect balance of spicy and refreshing. The only downside was the service. I had to seat myself because the host was in the back chatting with the chef for about 20 minutes, which made the start of the visit a bit frustrating. Once I was settled, everything I ordered was fantastic, but a little more attentiveness up front would make the experience perfect. Overall, the food and drinks are outstanding — definitely worth visiting, and I hope the service improves because this place has great potential.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mexican Cantina, and it exceeded my expectations from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. Every bite felt authentic and well-prepared, making it clear the kitchen takes pride in what they serve. The drinks were just as impressive. I tried the La Flor, and it was a standout—smooth, refreshing, and expertly balanced. It paired perfectly with the meal and is definitely something I’d order again. What really made the experience memorable, though, was Violet (bartender). Not only were the drinks made to perfection, but the service was top-tier—friendly, attentive, and engaging without being overbearing. It added a great vibe to the entire atmosphere. Overall, Mexican Cantina is a spot I’d highly recommend if you’re looking for great food, strong drinks, and excellent service all in one place.

We weren’t sure where to get food. We had actually planned on Asian food but then last minute did a switch. Instantly we felt like we had made the right choice. Every bite was delicious. My partner said “I feel like I need to meet the chef.” Our waiter, Henry, was fast as lightning and had the best energy. Before I knew I could do a review I paid and tipped and left something like 40% for Henry. Good stuff Henry. Keep up the good vibes!

Very good food and service. Very busy, making the small walk ways hard to squeeze past without touching someone. Bathrooms were super clean! The prices were pretty reasonable for the portions too.
