Why isn’t this place all 5 stars. Holly Hannah. Recommended for a work trip. It’s an experience. Definitely a hole in the wall. Walked into a bar. Went though door labeled for the tacos. Went down a long hall with a sign TACOS THIS WAY. They were. Easy to understand menu. Fast friendly service. And then I took a bite of my chicken quesadilla with everything and found nirvana. Best grilled chicken ever. Paired nicely with the sangria soda. Atmosphere was coke tables bolted to the wall. Plenty of napkins and the crema jalapeños was so amazing. Would eat here always if I could.

Weekend getaway in Austin, went here for lunch. Ambience - located in an alley, can be a little confusing to find. Walk into an alley bar, go through a door, walk through a small seating area, around the corner to the kitchen where you wait in line to order and get your food. Can be fun if you like hustle and bustle. Energetic atmosphere, everybody working fast getting customers their food. No table service, you order, you wait for your food, you try to find a place to sit. Food - very tasty, we order 3 different ones just to try out the variety between the two of us, along with a side of chips and salsa. The salsa is outstanding…probably the best flavor I’ve had in a long time. Our tacos were steak, chicken, and pork, all on homemade tortillas. Very fresh tasting and tasty, but the meat was chopped fine, tough to hold together while you eat without it falling out the ends. Enjoyed the lively atmosphere and great quick lunch. Would I go there again…yes Would I recommend…yes.

Tacos are muy bueno. I got the crispy shell chicken taco. They call it Volcán style . I ordered two and the come loaded!!!! Salsa and chips are on point. Super casual atmosphere. Little bar up front for cocktails. If you are in the area make it a point to visit ! Access to the entrance is actually in the alley.

When you walk in, it is like you are in Mexico. This is a true Mexican food no Tex Mexing it. If you see a long line, don’t get discouraged, their service is fast and efficient. Keep in mind that their tortillas are huge, corn ones are three times the size of your normal street taco corn tortilla and flour ones are also several times larger than your average ones. They have two Al Pastor trompas spinning even on a Thursday evening. Seating can be a challenge, however, most people don’t sit there for a long time. And ultimately, amazingly flavorful tacos! They also have bottle Coke. Tacos are a bit on a pricier side, but when you see their size, it makes sense.

The best way to describe this joint is as a taco reverse speakeasy. Go down an alleyway, enter a bar, and pass through a door with a tacos sign, and you’ll find a bustling taqueria that slings some of the best tacos in town. Tortillas are homemade, and pastor is cooked on a trompo. Don’t feel like a taco? You can also snag a quesadilla or tostada-like volcanes. There are several salsa options, and drinks include Mexican Cokes and horchata, among others. We ended up getting two tacos (pastor and carne asada), a nopales quesadilla, and an order of chips and guac. At $5 to $6 a taco, this wasn’t cheap despite the no-frills surroundings, but it was well worth it. Everything looked and tasted fresh and smelled amazing. D/10 is known for its pastor, and it’s easy to see why. Served in strips rather than chunks, it boasts a crisp edge and a nice bit of pineapple flavor. However, the asada, the salsa crema, and even the chips are all stellar here. While seating may be hard to come by, on food alone, Taqueria de Diez is a solid ten.
