Cinco de Mayo authentic Mexican Restaurant

I ordered the taco (beef) & enchilada (one beef & one chicken) combo. I can understand chicken being dry sometimes but I'm not sure how they managed to make the ground beef dry as well. The good also completely lacked any hint of seasoning. Not sure what the drinks taste like but I assume that's why people come here because it's absolutely not the food.

I’ve now visited 5 de Mayo in downtown Jacksonville twice, and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots. The Atmosphere The restaurant itself is housed in a beautiful, historic building—I absolutely love that they’ve kept the original "Covington Company" floor tiles at the entrance! The interior has a great vibe that makes for a fantastic night out. The Experience • The Food: We’ve enjoyed Combo #4 and #7, as well as the Tacos de Asada, and everything was consistently delicious. The chips and salsa are a must-order (seriously addictive). • Vegan-Friendly: I’ve come here with vegan friends, and the staff was incredibly accommodating in helping us find great options for them, which isn't always easy to find at a traditional Mexican restaurant. • Drinks: The Margaritas are fantastic—definitely a highlight of both my trips. The Service The service has been awesome both times I’ve been in. The staff is friendly, attentive, and makes you feel right at home the moment you walk through those doors. If you're downtown and looking for consistent, high-quality Mexican food with a side of local history, this is the place to go. I’ll definitely be back!

This was the first time here for all of us. Keylinn was our server. She was very attentive, and gave us food and beverage suggestions. The starter chips were fresh and warm. The salsa (I was told as I don’t care for salsa) and queso was yum! I ordered the chicken tacos, my friends ordered a vegetarian burrito and rice and a quesadilla. Everything was delicious. My friends also ordered a frozen pina coladas, and another beverage that I cannot recall the name of. This is a definite must stop if you are in the area of the arena or football field.

We enjoyed the atmosphere and the view of the city life and the river. The service was ok. Not amazing not bad. A little slow we thought, especially for Mexican restaurant standards. I got the fajita quesadilla and kids got normal beef tacos. All was very good. My wife not carne Asada and it was completely bland and tasteless without moving it with the onions and some sauces. Overall a good visit.

Excellent food,and the pricing is great. Happy hours every day until 7pm with an excellent selection of drinks. Definitely the best Mexican restaurant we tried locally
