I would not recommend this place to Black people if the Filipino femme bartender with the cat ear eye-glasses is working. I say she’s Filipino because while I was at the bar waiting to be taken care of, and it was not busy, she was chatting with two patrons about her Filipino American studies and ancestry to my right. she kept chatting them up, was talking to her friend sitting to my left, made eye contact with me at least twice as I waved/smiled, and didn’t say hi, didn’t ask if I needed anything, etc., just kept it pushing. I told the person I was with (not Black) that the bartender was being weird and I left for maybe 3-5 minutes to the bathroom. when I came back, they already got to order and pay, and two other people were being taken care of (also not Black). I was not the only one to notice this and point it out. I had no issues with the two other bartenders and apart from this the vibe was cool, I really liked everything up until this point; but I definitely won’t be coming back and I will be letting my people know there’s someone working here with a clear bias towards Black people.

So excited to see this spot finally open! We missed Mayra's amazing food in the neighborhood when Xingones moved to Jack London, and we're stoked to have it back! Stopped by for a burrito and a High Life and both the food and vibes were immaculate!
