SouthernCharm a month agoThe atmosphere was great, the people were nice. The vibe was awesome. The food LOOKED amazing but it didn’t have any flavor. They didn’t have sweet tea, they don’t offer fries for the kids and they don’t even have ranch. So it’s not very kid friendly. We talked to a lady about the lack of flavor and she did offer us churros but we went to hard on the queso and salsa. The salsa and queso were the best! I loved the roasted salsa and the fresh homemade chips. The food was cooked perfectly it just needed seasoning. If we come back it’ll be for a date night and I’ll bring my own seasoning lol.
DeCarla Steele 5 months agoBarrios is one of my go to lunch spots. I hadnt been in a while because I was going all the time at one point. I thought I'd stop in today. I usually order the fish tacos but this time I ordered the chicken masa soup and Brussels sprouts with sweet potatoes. I didn't want anything heavy. First, let's talk about their homemade tortilla chips and homemade salsa. If that's all I ate I would be extremely happy. Their chips and salsa are the best hands down! The chicken masa soup was better than I expected. It was like a kicked up chicken soup with all the veggies and all the flavor! The let down was the Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes. It's presentation was beautiful but the taste was just... meh! So many things they could do for flavor but that dish just missed the mark. I was pleasantly surprised to see they added mocktails on the menu. I do love a good mocktail! I had their mule-something or other. I forget the name. It was a let down too. Beautiful presentation but it was syrupy sweet. If they dialed down a bit on the syrup and added more soda water, spritzer or ginger beer (yum) PLUS a couple of jalapeño rings, it would have been on point. My waitress was super sweet and friendly and she took great care of me. It was just after the lunch rush so it was a fairly empty and easy going atmosphere. My ONLY regret is that I did not order the grilled pineapple tres leches. You haven't lived until you've had that slice of heaven wrapped in a dessert. Barrios is a place with good food and space for good friends plus its in the coveted Midtown.
Jeremy Crites 2 weeks agoGood for lunch and dinner, but GREAT for happy hour (Sun-Thurs 2-6pm). The $7 taco special comes with two tacos. The fish taco is my favorite- big chunks of cod with pickled cabbage and topped with fried caper & sauce. Fresh homemade tortilla chips and salsa are always a hit, as is the freshly made guacamole. The drink specials are also excellent - try the Guava-Habanero, No Sleep til Jalisco (a Mexican twist on an espresso martini), and the avocado margarita. The patio is a great place to hang out.
Alexis Kaiser 2 months agoSuch a great way to spend an evening in OKC! Their spacious patio is beautiful. Walls protect you from the relentless Oklahoma wind. The music is nice and not too loud. The chips are clearly house made and perfectly seasoned. And the salsa... charred tomatoes ... Wow! Again house made. Bridgette was our server and she was so knowledgeable, hospitable, and attentive. Definitely start with a margarita. The Guava-mango margarita was named #3 Margarita in the country by Liquor.com, and we could taste why! My sister ordered hers on the rocks, which I liked better, but they were fantastic both ways. I ordered the Chile Relleno, which was the best I've ever had. It came with broccoli rabe, which was an unexpected but delicious side. My sister got the steak fajitas, which were excellent. The experience was so much more than the meal. We will definitely be back soon!
