We're a big fan of this space, which has had several restaurants in the past 30 years. Mestiizo has an interesting fusion menu of Asian and Latin. We each had a beverage and small dishes. One vegetarian sushi roll, three tacos, and their birria egg roll. The egg roll was our least favorite. The meat filling tasted good, but it kind of overpowered the rest of the flavors, which included a very bland avocado puree. The sushi roll was the standout, with crispy sweet potato. The three tacos were different shredded meats, including beef, pork, and chicken. All three were quite good, helped by handmade tortillas using nixtamalized cornmeal from their neighbor restaurant, Nixta. The cocktail menu was interesting, and we enjoyed watching what was brought out from the kitchen and served at other tables, in lovely and intriguing configurations. For dessert, we had bunuelos, which was prepared in a very light fashion, integrating purple ube and a tiny scoop of coconut ice cream. We hope this business has some longevity. Will probably try it again.

I came here with a friend for her birthday since she wanted to try this spot and we had overall a good experience with the vibe, the drinks, and the dessert, but we both thought that the food taste could use improvement, especially when the portion size was so small for the amount of food that was given. The birria eggroll had an appropriate amount of ponzu-consomé which served as a very good sauce for the birria meat. The eggrolls were tasty and offered a great culinary experience. The beet salad had a good amount of beet pieces which was great, and the peanuts along with the jicama on the top offered very good ingredients to go along with the beet pieces. Eating them altogether was great. My friend and I also enjoyed the dessert because it had a mixture of various types of textures from the hard cookie-like bottom to the creamy milky mixture on the top. My friend commented that the meat on the tacos were pretty dry, which per her was disappointing. I tasted the shrimp tempura as well and thought that it was a bit soggy. I also thought the sushi had pretty good salmon on the top, but the overall taste was relatively conventional and had no highlights. Maybe using another sauce at the bottom of the sushi roll can help provide more flavor options if customers choose to dip their rolls into them. In terms of the bibimbap, I thought that the gochujang was way too sweet which overpowered the taste of the entire bowl, probably because it was an agave gochujang per the menu, which I would argue wasn't needed because Korean gochujang has enough sweetness to define the flavor and does not need more. Despite my feedback above, I still appreciated the fusion concept that this restaurant offered, and would still recommend it to people. I don't think I have seen a lot of Mexican and Asian fusion food, so the novelty itself allowed me to be curious enough to enjoy my experience.

I absolutely love this place! I’ve been wanting to check this place out for a while. I made reservations online, which I highly recommend, as the place is relatively small. Upon arriving, we were seated within 5-10 minutes. We had a booth, which was a vibe. The lighting is very dim and intimate. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful. I ordered the tuna tostada and the ceviche. Everything arrived fairly quickly and was absolutely delicious. I also ordered a few NA drinks that were phenomenal. The service was phenomenal from the server to the person delivering the food. I would absolutely return!

This was a fun restaurant with some unique flavors. The chips and dip offered a new twist that we enjoyed as our appetizer. The carne asada was incredible! For someone who is picky about steak, this was one of the best I’ve had. The cochinita taco was delicious and I could have definitely ate a few more of them! The biggest miss of the night was the sushi: the flavors didn’t mix well together and while my husband said it was good, I couldn’t bring myself to enjoy it. If we come back, I will be giving the sushi a pass. A big win for this restaurant was our dessert of buñuelos. They were light and crispy and the accompanying gelato was so creamy! Price-wise, the dessert should have been cheaper but all other items, including cocktails, were reasonable. This is a good date night spot with solid potential to become one of “THE” must-visit restaurants.

Wonderful drink selection. The entire menu feels enticing but was a tad disappointing with the chicken tacos. Sushi was a little overpriced. Overall, would come back.
