My wife and I went for an early dinner late lunch around 3:30pm, it is truly a cool spot down under in an alley of newbury street. The atmosphere is nice and they play some nice well known mariachi and cumbia songs. The al pastor tacos were delicious and the pozole and sopes chorizo were delicious as well. Nothing is very spicy that we had, was thinking the salsa would be spicy but it wasn’t. They had micheladas and some classic beers, modelo and Pacifico, which were good. Overall, the food was excellent and wait staff very nice. However, my honest opinion, I would say this place is pretty far from tasting authentic, my wife is from CDMX and we travel there often, and the food is still very Americanized, but it tastes good! just don’t expect it to taste like CDMX.

We discovered Casa Romero and it truly feels like a hidden gem—literally tucked away in an alley, which adds to its charm. It’s a cute “hole-in-the-wall” spot with a cozy, intimate vibe. When we checked in, they asked if we had a reservation (we didn’t), but they were still able to squeeze us in—which, fittingly, matches the tight space and closely set tables. The service was great, and the food and drinks were both very tasty. I also loved the subtle touches of authenticity, like the servers wearing Lotería-inspired shirts and the mix of Latin music playing in the background—it really added to the atmosphere. One thing to note is that the chips and salsa aren’t complimentary like at many Mexican restaurants, but overall, it’s still a great find with amazing vibes. I’d definitely come back!

After being on a overcrowded newbury street, going to a low key restaurant in the public alleyway was a great way to take it easy. The food was delicious, the vibe was chill. We got the mole enchilada and cochinita pibil.

The Enchiladas were phenomenal. The churros too. Nice Mexican restaurant in Boston. Only thing is the tables are a little small.

Unnecessary pricing - they are taking $4 for appreciating the kitchen and want a tip on top of that. Not the friendliest staff, BANG AVERAGE food. The quesadillas were boiled chicken and tortilla with salsa on the side. Probably hurting Boston’s reputation of good, friendly service with above average food.
