We had such a great experience at Luna Tex-Mex Cantina! The atmosphere was one of our favorite parts — open air with a perfect indoor/outdoor feel, huge windows, lots of airflow, and great people watching. The bar is absolutely beautiful and the margarita selection was fantastic. The shrub margarita was especially killer. We tried a variety of dishes and honestly everything was delicious. The street corn, queso and ceviche were standouts from the appetizer menu. We also loved the birria tacos, crunchy tacos, and enchiladas. The kids beef taco was a hit and even came with a kids sushi, which the kids thought was so fun. And of course the churros at the end were the perfect finish. One of the best parts was being able to walk over to Victoria Ward Park after dinner so the kids could run around while we walked off our meal. Such a fun family night out. We’ll definitely be back soon!

I wanted to like it, but I just can't say it's good. The beer is the most flavorful thing I tasted over two separate visits. I know the Hawaii "Mexican" food scene is sub par, and this one is par for the course, I'm afraid. It took a while to figure out what's missing, but it's... flavor. First, the good. They're very nice, very attentive, even to the point of annoyance, but I gave service 4 stars. Margarita was good, but pretty plain. Guacamole is bland, though it is fresh with real avocado... but no salt, no lime, and no peppers. Everything needs salt. The rice is devoid of all flavor, even rice flavor, the beans have a faint hint of ham, but largely flavorless. Chicken in the enchiladas is well-cooked, shredded chicken, but it's just chicken - no other detectable flavor. The chips are good, fresh in-house, I think, but lacking... wait for it... salt.. The sauce was tart, but needed salt, and there's no chile powder, ancho powder, fresh peppers, no jalapeno, no chipotle, no pepper or spice in their spice cabinets. If you want spicy Mexican food, this is not the place. I'm not expecting Jose Andres-level food, but it's just... just... there. Nicely plated, but just there. I hope they improve. Maybe there's an audience for this, but it's not me. I've eaten Mexican food all over Mexico, Texas, California, and many other mainland cities, and nothing really compares to this lack of flavor, unfortunately.

Refreshing to see a different style of cuisine in the Ward area that is dominated by Asian restaurants. Great location, breezy and open. There are even tables outside but I would recommend only for drinks/people watching since the strong breeze can make it challenging to eat a full meal. We ordered the whole snapper, which was delicious and large enough to feed an adult and two small children. My friend had the enchiladas and loved it. The drink menu is solid. I had the HI Paloma cocktail, which was very tasty; I will definitely try the other drinks in the future. The kids had a slushy and loved it. The servers were friendly and attentive. Overall a great experience and will visit again.

The food was overall good. It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but it’s good for the area. They did a great job with the interior and the staff is friendly and food service is very fast.
