David a month agoGreat flavorful food! We really enjoyed the whole experience. While we walked in, reservations are recommended. The did was very tasty with a great depth of flavor! We loved the guacamole sampler! We liked the concept of the uncut tortilla chips. Kinda fun breaking the chips to your desired size for dipping, plus they were made fresh to order. Still got when we got them! The main courses were great too!
Courtney 2 months agoHad a reservation and didn't wait long to be seated. Our server must have had a long day because service wasn't that great, just ok. Great menu options. Appetizers were delicious. Had the salsa sampler tasting and the fried Chihuahua cheese and it was soooo good. For my meal I had the pork belly tacos with esquites (mexican corn) and the sweet plantains and it was delicious. I mean cooked perfectly. I was impressed with the food at this place. I'd definitely come back and I do recommend.
Melissa Ivey a month agoWent to celebrate my son's birthday at Madre Selva Latin Kitchen, and the experience was fantastic. The staff even customized the menu with his name to commemorate the occasion, which was such a thoughtful touch. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, the food was absolutely amazing, and every dish was beautifully presented. If you're a foodie, this is definitely a spot worth visiting. The service was impeccable from start to finish. We had a wonderful time and will definitely be back.
Martin S a month agoWe so badly wanted to give Alma Cocina five stars because the food was genuinely excellent. Every dish we ordered was flavorful, well-executed, and beautifully seasoned. Unfortunately, the lack of service put a serious damper on what should have been a special evening and ultimately means we probably won't be returning. We started with the guacamole with guava and queso fresco, along with the arugula salad. Both portions were generous, and the flavors were absolutely on point. For our mains, we ordered the chicken tinga tacos and the grilled sweet potatoes. Both dishes were exquisitely seasoned, incredibly flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. The problem was the service, or more accurately, the absence of it. We arrived for our reservation and found no one available to greet us. Eventually, a friendly hostess appeared, located our booking, and seated us in a booth. After that, no one came to our table. After waiting for quite some time, the bartender stopped by and took our drink order. Unfortunately, the pattern continued throughout the evening. Once again, no one checked on us, and we eventually had to flag someone down to place our appetizer order. After finishing our starters, we waited roughly 30 minutes before being able to order our mains. The food itself arrived quickly once ordered, but by the end of the meal we had to get up and find someone just to ask for our check. We would have loved to try dessert, but there was simply no one available to help us. What makes this especially disappointing is that this was a birthday dinner. The quality of the food showed so much promise, and despite everything, I still tipped the bartender for his efforts. In hindsight, however, the complete lack of attentive service overshadowed an otherwise excellent meal. It's unfortunate because the kitchen clearly deserves praise, but the front-of-house experience fell far short of what we'd expect for a special occasion.
Anonymous 5 months agoVery friendly staff. Food was good! I ordered the ceviche and red beans/rice. The beans and rice were awesome, however, the ceviche was a bit too fishy for my liking. It didn’t have a ton of flavour.
