Patti Beltram a month agoLa Terraza Cocina y Cantina – A Relaxed Meal with Comforting Flavors and a Great Atmosphere La Terraza delivers the kind of dining experience that feels welcoming from the moment you sit down. The covered patio space stands out immediately—string lights, colorful chandeliers, open-air views, and a lively but comfortable atmosphere create a setting that feels equally suited for a casual lunch or an evening out with friends. The service accented the great environment - super helpful and accommodating. The meal begins with chips and salsa, a simple touch that sets the tone. The chips appeared fresh and crisp, while the two salsas offered different levels of flavor and heat. The darker red salsa was richer and spicier, while the lighter salsa was the standard brighter and more tomato-forward salsa. We split two entrees. For the main courses, the restaurant's traditional Mexican comfort-food roots were evident. The Chile Verde was especially satisfying. Large chunks of pork were generously coated in a vibrant green tomatillo sauce that was thick, rustic, and packed with flavor. The accompanying refried beans and Spanish rice were classic and hearty, while the folded tortilla added a welcome texture for your own taco. Judging by the presentation, this is the kind of dish that prioritizes flavor and authenticity over flashy presentation. The second entrée, Quesacosa, featured a bowl of charro-style beans loaded with meat and herbs, paired with rice and a stuffed, grilled tortilla or quesadilla-style item. The broth was rich and deeply seasoned, with visible cilantro and a layer of flavorful oils on top that suggest long-simmered preparation. It had the appearance of a dish made from family-style recipes rather than restaurant shortcuts. Portion sizes were generous throughout. Both plates were substantial without feeling excessive, offering the kind of value diners appreciate when ordering traditional Mexican specialties. Highlights Comfortable and attractive patio dining area Generous portions Traditional Mexican dishes that appear homemade and hearty Overall Impression La Terraza Cocina y Cantina appears to succeed by doing the basics well: generous portions, traditional recipes, a welcoming atmosphere, and a menu built around crowd-pleasing Mexican favorites. The food looks authentic and satisfying, and the atmosphere elevates the overall experience.
Melitta Kauppinen 3 months agoLa Terraza serves some of the best Mexican food in Sacramento! Their flavors, from salsa to menudo to enchiladas to flan, are incredible and robust. Servers are always friendly and happy to assist with recommendations. You could go to the restaurant every week for a year and try something new each time! There are plenty of options for all dietary needs (gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, etc.). ALSO CHECK OUT THEIR NEWER MARGARITA BAR DOWNSTAIRS!! It is so great!!!
Sukant Blana 4 months agoRestaurant ratings on Google says it all. 1st restaurant serving mexican cuisine that disappointed us. Food was under-seasoned, mild, flat, insipid and lacking in flavor. Rice were uncooked. Only salsa had some taste. Food looks good in pictures though. Large portions. Expensive.
Princel Potts 3 months agoI must say I only did a few things off the menu cuz I had a short amount of time but I'm telling you the Sonora rolls we're outstanding make sure you ask for a side of sour cream and La fries Terraza fries we're outstanding just make sure you do less cheese if you don't like a lot of cheese and ask for extra meat and I must say the server name Blanca gave us outstanding service I recommend this place 10 out of 10 so far until I try the actual menu but just for advertisers and drinks outstanding
Kinton Tinon 7 months agoAfternoon lunch. Quick service, massive portions. The food was very good, the price was expensive but with large portions and location it makes sense. Nice atmosphere for a slow weekday lunch. The shredded beef was good in both the burrito and Quesadilla.
