El Carmen is more a bar than restaurant. It has an awesome atmosphere and the largest tequila menu I have ever seen. The food was small plates but really plenty filling once you eat the chips and salsa. The veggie nachos looked to be a good value as well as the quesadilla. It’s a fun place perfect for drinks and lite eats.

Becoming a go-to spot for friends and I! Decent prices, great food, good drink variety, and a unique vibe with friendly staff. Everyone’s happy to go to El Carmen!! One of the bar chairs squeaks like no other, though— If someone wants to take a look at that 😂😂

El Carmen is truly a hidden gem in the heart of Los Angeles. They offer a happy hour menu Monday to Friday from 5–7pm with incredible prices ($8 margaritas, $3 tacos) that make it easy to stop by after work without breaking the bank. The drinks are delicious, and I had some of the best shrimp tacos I’ve ever tasted here—fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The chips, salsa, and guacamole are also a must-order, with everything tasting homemade and vibrant. It’s a cozy spot with great energy, and I can’t wait to go back.

Really cool restaurant. At first look I thought it was small and loud making for tough conversations. But we had 3 of us at a table and it was fantastic. Happy Hour pricing til 7:00 and our meal and drinks for the evening were all on the Happy Hour menu. My water glass never made it to empty the staff was so attentive but not intrusive. The way dining should be everywhere.

Great spot for happy hour. Came in after work with my friend. Happy hour 5-7. Highlights are the $6 beers and $7 margaritas. Inside has a cool, stylish interior. The food is good for soaking up the booze. Service was great. Friendly staff. There's street meter parking up and down the block but you might have to walk a block or two.
